Beehiiv Reviews 2026: My Honest Experience After Switching From Brevo

If you’re searching for Beehiiv reviews, you’re probably trying to answer the same question I was asking earlier this year: Is Beehiiv actually worth switching to?

I can only speak from my own experience, but I’ve been using Beehiiv since late April or May 2026, and I’ve watched the platform change quite a bit during that time.

In fact, one of the things I like most about Beehiiv today is that it doesn’t feel like the exact same platform I started using.

I’ve seen features change, tools get easier to use, and some of the frustrations I had early on get addressed. So this isn’t a Beehiiv review based on signing up for an afternoon and deciding whether I like it.

I’ve been using it for months; I’ve moved through different subscriber tiers, I’ve used its monetization tools, I’ve dealt with customer support, and I’ve watched my newsletter grow.

Here’s what I actually think about Beehiiv.

Why I Started Looking for an Alternative to Brevo

I didn’t start looking for Beehiiv because I was unhappy with newsletters.

I had a much more practical problem.

I run a large website and wanted to grow the newsletter side of the business. At the time, I was using Brevo, and while I liked Brevo, I was having trouble with the process of importing my subscribers.

I had a large subscriber list and wanted something that would make the transition easier.

That’s when Beehiiv entered the picture.

I honestly don’t remember exactly how I stumbled across it, but I believe I was talking to ChatGPT about newsletter platforms and looking at alternatives such as Substack.

Substack was interesting, but there was something about the way many Substack newsletters were being delivered that didn’t quite fit what I wanted.

A lot of the newsletters I received had the entire story inside the email.

My goal was different.

I wanted the newsletter to drive people back to my website.

That’s an important distinction.

I wasn’t simply looking for a place to publish a newsletter. I wanted a newsletter platform that could function as part of a larger media business.

Beehiiv caught my attention because it seemed much more aligned with that model.

My Beehiiv Free Trial

When I signed up, I started with Beehiiv’s free trial.

Beehiiv currently provides new accounts with access to a trial of its paid features, while the account is technically on its free Launch plan during the trial. The current Launch plan supports up to 2,500 active subscribers, while paid plans offer higher subscriber tiers and additional features.

My experience was essentially: try it before committing.

I spent roughly two weeks getting familiar with the platform.

And I liked it enough to keep going.

I then moved into the paid 5,000-subscriber tier, and I had a 20% discount at the time, which made the decision considerably easier.

That was when I started taking Beehiiv more seriously.

The Biggest Reason I Chose Beehiiv: Monetization

The thing that really got my attention wasn’t just the newsletter editor.

It was the potential to make money from the newsletter.

I was specifically interested in advertising.

I already had an audience. I already had content. I already had a website.

I wanted another revenue stream.

Beehiiv’s Ad Network was one of the features that made the platform particularly attractive to me. The Ad Network is available on paid plans, and Beehiiv allows publishers to accept sponsored offers and earn based on ad performance.

And then I had my first little victory.

I made about $10 from an ad.

Now, I know $10 doesn’t sound like a fortune.

But I was excited.

Because I wasn’t looking at that $10 as $10.

I was looking at it as proof of concept.

If I could make money from a newsletter with a few thousand subscribers, what would happen as the audience grew?

That was the part that really interested me.

My Beehiiv Growth Journey

My experience with Beehiiv has also happened alongside some pretty significant newsletter growth.

I started around the 5,000-subscriber level.

Then I reached approximately 10,000 subscribers.

Eventually, I moved into the 25,000-subscriber tier.

That matters because my experience with Beehiiv wasn’t static.

I wasn’t using the same account at the same size for months and then writing a review.

I was growing while using it.

And that allowed me to see how the platform worked at different stages.

How Much Money Did I Make With Beehiiv?

This is one of the questions I would have wanted answered before signing up, so I’m including my own numbers.

My first month generated roughly $200 and something.

My second month was considerably better, at roughly $500 and something.

My third month was back down around $200 and something.

Those aren’t guaranteed numbers, and I wouldn’t want anyone reading this to think, “If I get 5,000 subscribers, I’ll make $200.”

That’s not how newsletter advertising works.

Revenue depends on things like audience size, engagement, available advertising opportunities, the ads you accept, and how your newsletter performs.

But for me, the important thing was that the revenue was real.

The platform was allowing me to monetize an audience I was already building.

And that’s one of the biggest reasons I’m still interested in Beehiiv.

Moving My Subscribers Was Surprisingly Easy

One of my biggest concerns before switching platforms was moving my existing subscribers.

I didn’t want to spend days fighting with an email platform.

Coming from Brevo, I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the process was for me.

Moving my subscribers to Beehiiv was easy.

That was a major win.

When you’re dealing with thousands of subscribers, anything that makes migration less painful matters.

The last thing I wanted was to spend hours manually rebuilding lists or worrying about whether I had accidentally lost subscribers.

The Beehiiv Editor Wasn’t Perfect

Now for the part of my Beehiiv review where I’m not going to pretend everything was perfect.

The editor initially frustrated me.

I’m very used to good drag-and-drop systems, particularly when it comes to placing images and building content.

When I first started using Beehiiv, there were certain things that didn’t feel intuitive to me.

Buttons were one example.

I also found things like page breaks and separators frustrating.

There were times when I wanted to duplicate or recreate certain elements and thought:

But here’s where my Beehiiv experience gets interesting.

Beehiiv Actually Changed the Things That Bothered Me

One of the things I’ve noticed during my time using Beehiiv is how quickly the platform changes.

I’ve complained about something, gone back into the platform later and noticed that something had changed.

The buttons became better for clicking through.

Some of the newsletter-building tools became easier.

The editor improved.

And that’s probably one of my biggest compliments to Beehiiv.

They’re actually evolving the product.

That might sound obvious, but it’s something I’ve noticed firsthand.

The Beehiiv I started using in spring 2026 isn’t exactly the Beehiiv I’m using now.

And that’s a good thing.

Beehiiv Customer Support Has Been Excellent

Another major positive for me has been customer support.

I’ve needed help several times, and my experience has been very good.

The support team has been friendly, helpful, and responsive.

I had an issue recently that was frustrating enough that I was pretty annoyed.

I contacted support.

They got back to me quickly and helped resolve the problem.

That’s important when your newsletter is connected to your business.

If something goes wrong with a newsletter going out to thousands of people, I don’t want to wait several days wondering what’s happening.

Beehiiv currently includes human support on its Scale plan, with priority human support available on Max.

But beyond simply having support available, my personal experience with the people I’ve dealt with has been very positive.

Beehiiv Segmentation and Analytics

Another feature I like is the ability to segment my audience and look at performance.

When you’re sending newsletters to a larger audience, you need more than a simple number telling you how many people opened an email.

You want to understand what’s happening.

Who’s engaging?

What links are people clicking?

How are different campaigns performing?

And, because I’m interested in monetization, I also want to understand how individual advertisements perform.

That makes the data more useful to me than simply knowing that an email went out successfully.

I Like That Beehiiv Is Built for Growth

This is probably the biggest difference I’ve noticed between using a traditional email service and using a platform designed specifically around newsletters.

Beehiiv feels like it understands that a newsletter can become a business.

You’re not just sending emails.

You’re building an audience.

You’re publishing content.

You’re growing subscribers.

You’re analyzing performance.

You’re potentially selling advertising.

You’re potentially offering paid subscriptions or other products.

Beehiiv currently positions its platform around newsletters, websites, podcasts, audience growth and monetization, with features such as the Ad Network, paid recommendations, digital products and paid subscriptions available on its higher-tier plans.

That overall ecosystem is what keeps me interested.

What I Don’t Like About Beehiiv

I don’t want this to sound like a sponsored review, because there are definitely things I didn’t love.

The editor wasn’t my favorite when I first started.

Some basic formatting functions weren’t as intuitive as I wanted them to be.

The drag-and-drop experience could have been better.

And because Beehiiv changes so frequently, sometimes you have to adjust to where things are or how a feature works.

But honestly?

I would rather have a platform that is constantly improving than one that hasn’t changed in five years.

The things that frustrated me in May aren’t necessarily the things frustrating me now.

Beehiiv vs. Brevo: Which Do I Prefer?

I have actually used both, so this is one comparison I feel comfortable making from personal experience.

Brevo wasn’t bad.

In fact, I liked Brevo.

My biggest issue was that I was trying to manage a large subscriber list and wanted a smoother experience moving those subscribers and growing the newsletter.

For what I’m doing now, I prefer Beehiiv.

The biggest reasons are:

• Newsletter-focused features
• Monetization opportunities
• The Ad Network
• Subscriber growth tools
• Analytics
• Segmentation
• An ecosystem built around publishers
• Responsive customer support
• Continued product improvements

That doesn’t mean I think everyone should abandon Brevo.

It means Beehiiv fits what I’m doing better.

Is Beehiiv Worth It?

For me, yes.

That’s my honest answer after using it for months.

But I don’t think Beehiiv is automatically the right choice for everyone.

If you’re sending occasional emails to a small customer list, you may not need everything Beehiiv offers.

If you’re running a newsletter, publication, media company, creator business or another audience-driven business, I think it’s much more interesting.

And if monetization is important to you, that’s where Beehiiv really caught my attention.

The current free Launch plan allows up to 2,500 subscribers, while Scale and Max are paid plans with significantly higher subscriber limits and monetization features.

My Final Beehiiv Review

I’ve been using Beehiiv since spring 2026.

I’ve gone from approximately 5,000 subscribers to 10,000 and then into the 25,000-subscriber tier.

I’ve imported my existing audience.

I’ve sent newsletters.

I’ve dealt with technical issues.

I’ve contacted support.

I’ve made money from advertising.

I’ve complained about features.

And I’ve watched some of those features improve.

That’s why my answer is pretty simple.

I plan to keep using Beehiiv.

I’m especially interested in seeing where the platform goes next.

One of the things I appreciate most is that Beehiiv doesn’t seem content to leave the product alone. They’re constantly adding, changing and improving things.

And for someone running a growing publication, that’s important.

The platform isn’t perfect.

The editor wasn’t perfect when I started.

There are still things I’d like to see improved.

But compared with where I was before, Beehiiv has worked out well for me.

The first $10 I made from a newsletter advertisement got my attention.

The $ 500-plus-a-month showed me the potential.

And the fact that I’m still using Beehiiv months later, after moving through multiple subscriber tiers, probably tells you more about my experience than any five-star rating could.

My Beehiiv Rating: 4.5/5

Would I recommend Beehiiv? Yes.

Would I recommend it to everyone? No.

Would I recommend it to someone trying to build and monetize a serious newsletter? Absolutely.

And considering how much Beehiiv has changed since I started using it in spring 2026, I’ll probably be updating this review again.

Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned from using Beehiiv, it’s that the platform I’m reviewing today probably won’t be the same platform I’m reviewing six months from now.
