Nearly three decades after one of Hollywood’s most unforgettable celebrity marriages, Carmen Electra is opening up about the one legal decision she wishes she had made before marrying former NBA superstar Dennis Rodman.

During a recent appearance on the Legally Goff podcast, Electra reflected on her whirlwind 1998 romance with Rodman and admitted she now regrets not having a prenuptial agreement in place.

“I didn’t know about a pre-nup; I didn’t know anything about it,” Electra said. “I probably should have had him sign a pre-nup, as a matter of fact, because I have more money than he does right now. Imagine if we would have stayed married.”

Her candid remarks come years after persistent rumors claimed she married Rodman for his wealth—an accusation she says couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Carmen Electra Says She Was Financially Independent

Electra explained that long before meeting Rodman, she had already established herself financially through modeling and acting.

By the late 1990s, she had become one of the biggest pop culture figures of the decade thanks to appearances in Playboy and her breakout role on Baywatch.

According to Electra, she already owned a condominium, drove a Mercedes-Benz, and had built a successful career before the relationship began.

She emphasized that money was never her motivation for saying “yes.”

A Romance Fueled by Grief

Electra has previously spoken about the devastating personal losses she experienced in 1998.

Her mother died from brain cancer in August of that year, and just two months later, her sister unexpectedly died from a heart attack.

Looking back, Electra says those tragedies deeply affected her decision-making.

The emotional whirlwind contributed to her impulsive decision to marry Rodman in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony.

A Marriage That Lasted Just Months

The couple married in Las Vegas in November 1998 after a highly publicized romance.

Just nine days later, Rodman filed for an annulment, claiming he was of “unsound mind” when the marriage took place. Although the annulment didn’t ultimately stand, the marriage officially ended in divorce roughly five months later.

Electra says she never sought financial compensation during the divorce proceedings.

“I could have taken that guy to the bank,” she recalled, adding that she walked away without asking for anything.

Dennis Rodman’s Financial Ups and Downs

During his Hall of Fame basketball career, Rodman earned tens of millions of dollars while winning five NBA championships and becoming one of basketball’s most recognizable personalities.

However, years after retiring, reports surfaced that Rodman faced significant financial difficulties, including legal troubles over unpaid child support and tax issues. His lavish lifestyle and business decisions reportedly contributed to those challenges.

Electra joked that if the marriage had lasted, the financial dynamic today might actually have favored her.

Looking Back Without Regret

While Electra now wishes she had understood the importance of a prenuptial agreement, she doesn’t appear bitter about the relationship itself.

Instead, her comments reflect the perspective that often comes with time—recognizing how grief, youth, and whirlwind romance can lead to life-changing decisions.

Today, both stars have largely moved on from that unforgettable chapter, but their brief marriage remains one of the most talked-about celebrity romances of the late 1990s.

Why This Story Is Trending

Electra’s interview has reignited public fascination with one of Hollywood’s most memorable celebrity relationships. Her surprising revelation that she now has more money than Rodman—and her humorous take on wishing she’d requested a prenup instead of being accused of chasing his fortune—has sparked fresh conversations across social media about celebrity finances, marriage, and hindsight.
