Taylor Swift’s music has disappeared from several videos posted by Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, after the singer joined a growing group of artists objecting to their music being used in connection with the Trump administration.
The removals come after Trump’s political operation used Swift songs in social media posts portraying the president and his administration.
Over the past week, Trump’s campaign used two Swift songs on TikTok, including posts that played on the titles and lyrics of her music. One video featured captions referencing “Red (Donald Trump’s Version)” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (The Biden Harris Administration).”
The campaign had also previously used Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You”, a song associated with Toy Story 5, in a video showing Trump interacting with children at the White House, appearing at a UFC event and attending a political rally.
The post was accompanied by a message praising Trump and saying that nobody loves the country and American people more than the president.
The White House Used Swift’s Music Too
The controversy isn’t limited to Trump’s campaign.
In April, the White House posted a video showing the Artemis II astronauts meeting Trump in the Oval Office. The video used Swift’s song “High Infidelity”, including lyrics referencing April 29.
The date was particularly notable because Trump met with the Artemis II astronauts at the White House on April 29, 2026.
The White House later used another Swift song, “The Fate of Ophelia,” in a TikTok video featuring images of the American flag, US monuments and photos of Trump, including his 2023 mugshot.
That post sparked a wave of reaction online.
A White House spokesman previously told news organizations that the administration was aware news outlets would give the video significant attention.
Swift Has Opposed Trump Before
Swift has not recently made a new public statement about Trump in connection with the latest videos.
However, the singer has been publicly critical of the president for years.
During the 2024 presidential election, Swift endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. During the 2020 campaign, she also publicly criticized Trump and supported his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.
Trump, in turn, has repeatedly criticized Swift and has made his dislike of the pop superstar public.
Other Artists Have Also Objected
Swift is not the only major musician whose work has become part of the debate over political use of popular music.
Artists including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande have joined a broader group calling on the Trump administration not to use their music.
The dispute highlights a growing problem for political campaigns and government social-media accounts: popular songs can instantly make a political video more recognizable, but artists may object when their work becomes associated with a candidate, administration or policy they do not support.
Trump’s communications team has increasingly incorporated popular music into social media content surrounding issues ranging from immigration enforcement to US military operations and international arrests.
Neither the White House nor a representative for Swift immediately responded to requests for comment about the latest removals.
Why the Taylor Swift Music Disappeared
The exact reason the Swift songs were removed has not been publicly established. The removals do not, by themselves, prove that Swift personally ordered the videos taken down or that a court required their removal.
What is clear is that Swift’s music has repeatedly appeared in Trump-related social media content despite the singer’s well-known political opposition to the president.
For Swift, whose music reaches hundreds of millions of listeners worldwide, the latest episode adds another chapter to an increasingly public battle over who gets to control the political associations attached to a song.
And for Trump’s social-media team, the removals raise a bigger question: How far can political accounts go when using the world’s biggest pop songs to make their videos go viral?
