🕯️ June 17, 2025 — Celebrity chef and Food Network icon Anne Burrell has died at the age of 55. Known for her platinum blonde spiked hair, bold personality, and no-nonsense kitchen skills, Burrell was a beloved TV figure whose culinary charm made her a household name.
Burrell was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home early Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene. A cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
📺 From Culinary School to TV Stardom
Anne Burrell began her career in fine dining after studying at the Culinary Institute of America and honing her skills in Italy. She gained national attention as a sous chef on “Iron Chef America” and quickly earned her own spotlight as the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. But it was her long-standing role on Worst Cooks in America that made her a fan favorite, where her tough love and high standards turned even the worst cooks into capable home chefs.
Burrell also appeared regularly on Chopped, Beat Bobby Flay, and Chef Wanted, and authored several best-selling cookbooks.
💬 Last Days Filled with Joy
Just days before her death, Burrell appeared happy and active. She posted a cheerful selfie to Instagram with Brooklyn’s famous “Green Lady” and had recently attended improv classes. Family and friends said she seemed “radiant” and “joyful” in her final public appearances.

Burrell is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, her stepson Javier, her siblings, and her mother. The family released a statement saying:
“Anne was a radiant light in every room she entered. Her love for food, family, and fun was infectious. She touched millions with her talent, warmth, and kindness.”
Tributes have poured in across social media from fans and fellow chefs. Food Network released a statement calling her “a remarkable talent and an even more remarkable person.”
