How to Take a Self-Care Getaway on a Budget

Small business owners experience a lot of stress — and the last year has been particularly overwhelming. But did you know that taking a vacation may be just the ticket to combating entrepreneurial anxiety? When you’re running a company, it can be hard to get away, but studies show that taking time off to explore a new place offers an array of health benefits.

Of course, it costs money to take a trip — but it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Wherever you’re planning to travel, if you get familiar with a few tips and tricks of the travel world, your journey doesn’t have to break the bank. Consider this great advice from My Unbounded Life.

Make time to take a break

Little is more miserable than planning a break from the day-to-day details of running a business and spending the entire time in front of a computer. Instead of setting yourself up for a working vacation, set yourself up for a true vacation with time-saving, productivity-focused strategies. There are plenty of little things you can do to reduce the amount of time you spend on everyday tasks, and as a result, you can savor the time you spend away from the office.

Your annual report is a great example. All California businesses need to file one, but just because it’s something you’re required to file doesn’t mean you need to be the one doing all the work. Partnering with an online service like ZenBusiness is a great way to cut down on the amount of time and energy this obligation requires. They will set up a personalized dashboard for your company where your information is gathered and organized. Then, when the time comes, they will file the report on your behalf. It’s just one of the many tools and services you can lean on to make your work life easier and more efficient, so you can snag a well-deserved getaway now and then.

Travel on the right flights

One of the best strategies for scoring affordable flights is to simply choose the least popular trips. A red-eye flight can save hundreds of dollars, and if you look into frequent flyer miles, you can reap even more savings. Choosing a flight that may be less comfortable and convenient will also pay off big for your pocketbook. And if you can be flexible with your travel dates, you can stretch those dollars even further.

On the road

Travel can be stressful, but the last thing you need to worry about is your trip’s impact on your budget. Start your travels off in the right direction with a little advanced planning. When your trip requires ground transportation, a car rental company like Enterprise is your one-stop shop for car rental services. You can get the lowest prices on a vast selection of vehicles that will get you where you need to go in style.

Where to stay

For accommodations, you’ll likely find comparable rates between short-term rentals and hotels in many destinations. When making your choice, ask yourself a few questions. First, consider the nature of your trip and what’s most important for your stay. Is it the novelty of sleeping in a secluded tiny house nestled by a quiet river, or is it the reliability of guaranteed service in the heart of the city? Are you traveling with children or flying solo? Whether you require a single room or an entire home, you can save cash by having clarity about your accommodation needs. One option is to look for hotel deals on sites like Groupon and Priceline.

If you decide to book a hotel, pick one outside of the center of town. You’ll pay more for the convenience. Or, if you go with a vacation rental, you can save money on food by cooking meals in a fully stocked kitchen.

Talk with the locals

When you’re feeling adventurous, you can collect valuable advice from local residents and ask for info on things to do in town, where to eat, where to shop, and even where to stay. This could lead down an interesting path that you wouldn’t have otherwise followed while saving big. Many people are happy to share local tips if you just ask politely.

Discover free activities and events

There’s a wealth of free and low-cost activities and events available year-round in virtually any place you’d want to go. City Parks Departments offer beautifully tended green spaces with events like concerts, movie screenings (pack a picnic in a travel-friendly cooler for an inexpensive meal), and other fun entertainment for the whole family. Find playgrounds to delight the kiddos or sit and people-watch. Even just taking a quiet stroll through a park that’s new to you can be an uplifting activity full of discovery. If the weather isn’t agreeable to an outdoor trip, look for a library or museum to visit. Find free days at the art museum and enjoy the dose of culture and creativity.

It’s important to take time away from your small business, but in both your professional and personal lives, saving money is always a welcome endeavor. Plan your trip with the above tips for an unforgettable experience.

Sex vs. Intimacy

Sex vs Intimacy and the Difference Between the Two

Sex vs. Intimacy

Amanda Palmer has said the most beautiful thing about sex and intimacy. She says,  there is a difference between when you want others to see you than to look at you.

“There’s a difference between wanting to be looked at and wanting to be seen. One is exhibitionism, the other is connection. Not everybody wants to be looked at. Everybody wants to be seen.”   -Amanda Palmer

The same goes for sex and intimacy. Most of the world is deprived of both of these things these days, but it is sad to say that they cannot find the difference between these two things.

Intimacy is  more  than just a physical relationship, unlike like  sex when you are physically in contact with someone else. Intimacy includes the vulnerability of each other in which they are prone to any pretentiousness and are in their natural habitat. It is about opening yourself to others and sharing your darkest secrets or incidents of your life.

Sex Vs. Intimacy

Image by Solie Jordan from Pixabay

In plain English, it is a non-physical  existing link or connection between two human beings who are in search of a long-lasting relationship. It could be between any two persons, whether it be a couple of opposite or same gender or two friends. In sex, it is also possible that the connection in sex could be from only one side, but this is not the case with intimacy. Intimacy begins when the feeling is mutual and both people feel the same about each other. You can also be intimate with someone non-sexually (like with family or friends).

What is sex without intimacy?

Sex is a symbol or a representation within intimacy. Sex can be included in intimacy, but it is not the same vice versa. You cannot call it intimacy and the only in the form of or symbol of intimacy that you and your partner(s) have is sex. It could be expressed in many other ways.

However, if you want to ask what sex is if there is no intimacy, it is just for fun. The one-night stand concept (getting in bed with a stranger for one “night” to enjoy sexual intimacy with them) is common in our society (especially millennial relationships). Some people view sex without intimacy just as a fun act and not harmful for people (safe sex please). Sex is also a sign of a healthy relationship between two people (or more) that are madly in love with each other.

Sex and love are two different things. For married couples, or people who have commitments with their partners, sex without intimacy becomes less complicated over time. In sex, there are no rules or any restrictions of showing deep feelings of love to your partner. You can also enjoy it in a way in which you fool around and have casual sex without showing romance to your partner.

In this regard, the “friends with benefit” concept has grown much more popular among the youth these days. People do have sex with their friends without falling in love with them. With friends, it becomes easier because they have a good bond with each other, which makes it less awkward. There is no doubt that sex and intimacy are two separate things, but sex can change the perspective of your thinking. It can make things wonderful or complicated simultaneously.

Sex vs Intimacy

In simple words, the major difference between sex and intimacy is that you can say sex is a type of intimacy. Sex or any sexual activity is the physical (sexual) intimacy that you create with your partner. Whereas intimacy has a wider spectrum in its meaning. Sex has nothing to do with emotions or feelings, but intimacy includes how you feel about your partner, whether sex is included or not.

Usually, the people who are unable to get over their previous relationships are the ones that had intimacy in their relationship or they developed deep feelings for their partner. Sexual relationships that have intimacy can be challenging to close. It leaves a hole or a shallow place in their life that they are unable to fill again. Mostly, people move on with their first love, start their new life, have a new partner, family, but they can never forget that intimacy that they had with their previous lovers.

Types of Intimacies:

There are many kinds, but mainly four usually comes forward, which are described as follows:

Emotional:

Emotions are a part of our life. When we come to a point at which we feel completely comfortable sharing our deepest desires or dark secrets with our lovers or friends, this is when you achieve emotional intimacy. We feel comfortable sharing our issues with our siblings before anyone else because we know they will understand instead of mocking us.

Intellectual:

It relates to sharing your opinions or ideas about certain things. It does not mean that you share because others will agree with you. It could start a debate, but at least you will be able to put forward what you think about a certain topic, and it is healthy when someone has one or more persons with whom they can share their opinions.

Experimental:

This is the basic level of intimacy that you achieve with anyone. It is like when you start bonding with someone in your leisure time. It means you have mutual interests and share hobbies and like to spend your free time. It is an example of syncing up in teamwork or acting in unison in some activities.

Sexual:

Last but not least, sexual intimacy. People often confuse and include their sexual intimacy as intimacy in general, but there is a vast difference. It involves sexual activities, which are mainly about feeling physical about your partner.

Conclusion of Sex vs Intimacy and The Difference Between the Two :

Sex and intimacy are two different topics. Although these can be interlinked, one must understand the concept of intimacy. Sex might not sustain the relationship; although it is integral, intimacy is something that will retain your relationship and make it last longer. Couples might lose interest in sex after 10 to 15 years of marriage, but intimacy maintains the relationship. Remember to understand intimacy and sex are different concepts but constitute an important part of any relationship. Make sure you are exploring this vast topic, there is a lot of depth that you must know of. Learn how you can better your relationship with better intimacy with your partner.

Guying texting

How To Text A Girl: Dating 101

Guying texting

I was talking to a friend about a guy who had succeeded in receiving my number, but failed on successfully communicating with me. Whenever we talked or saw each other, it was a great time and we were clearly both interested in each other. What he failed at was communication, which puzzled me since he communicated for a living. After listening to my rant, she goes, “oh he just doesn’t know how to communicate with girls”.

Then it clicked. People know how to communicate. We do it all the time, but when it comes to someone that we have interest in, our emotions get in the way of communicating.

75% of millennials would rather text than talk, but we were never taught how to use this form of communication, since it was never done before.

Here is how to text a girl: Dating 101

How to approach a woman and ask her for her number:

I want to start at the very beginning of approaching a woman, the old fashion way. Say you are in a bar, lounge or such. Approach her and start a conversation. After you have a rapport with her, ask her for her number.  What should the rapport be? Talk about something that creates an interest in her, for you. When you are approaching a woman and asking her for her number, you are basically selling yourself and why you would be a good fit in her life. After you create interest, ask for the number. If she is hesitant, do not get discouraged, remember an hour ago, she didn’t know who you were.

woman receiving a text

When exchanging numbers, make sure you receive hers and then also have her put her name in your phone. This will allow for no mistakes when trying to reach back out. The most important thing, is when you walk away, send a cute and short text to her about how nice it was to meet her and something that insinuates that you do want to see her in the future. If you are bad with names, screen shot her name. This will help you remember.

How to ask a girl for her number from a dating site:

text messages

If you are on a dating site, it should be easier to know someone’s interest because they are on the site to usually “date”. Once again, do not jump the gun, but also do not take too long as it may look like you are prolonging the process to weigh your options. That is dangerous, especially if you are actually interested in the person. Build the rapport that I was mentioning earlier and then once you have built a common interest ask for the number and to take her out. If, you are hesitant to ask for her number, ask her out and then the day of, ask for her number and state something to her like, “in case the area does not have wifi”.

After the date, text her in regard to thanking her for coming out and something about the evening. You want to be memorable and also stand out, so be memorable and stand out when texting, communicating with her.

How to text a girl off of social media:

First you have to get the number, right? This can be hard. Watch the video above about getting the number from a social media site. Social media is sometimes used as a dating app, but for some it is a way to communicate with friends or sell products. You have to know who you are talking to. Once again, do not ask for the number too early. If you have a private account, take into account for that. Also, cater to the person you are talking to. Getting a phone number off of social media may take much longer, because the purpose is not concrete like a dating app or in person.

One of the biggest fails I have seen with guys trying to get my number off of social media is doing too much too soon. Not letting it organically happen. Not trying to communicate and learn who I am because they are assuming off of posts and pressuring me.

How to text a girl once you receive her number off of social media:

Now this is different because, now that you have her number, what is the difference between you texting and direct messaging? You need to create a difference. At the end of the day, if you are not meant to be, you can still be acquaintances or friends if you communicate properly.

Be different and do something different than what you were doing the dms.

How to text a girl if you feel like she is losing interest:

Girl receiving a text

This is actually quite easy. Go right back to what you were doing in the beginning and repeat it. Too often people get comfortable in relationships and forget to do the things that they were doing in the beginning of the relationship. This is not good at all. You want her to smile when she reads your texts. You want to remember your goal of the relationship with her. Asking her about her day and learning about her life is important. You also want to share.

Not everyone is a text communicator. If you feel like she is losing interest through texts, ask her preference on communicating.

Meet up with her. If it is not a long distance relationship, then ask her out on a date to keep the chemistry going and to build on it.

Here is how to text girls to meet up with you:

Make her feel comfortable and safe by not applying pressure. Ask her out directly by supplying the place and time, but do not be overbearing.

How to text a girl

Do not do too much too soon.

You want her to smile when you text her and it is easy, keep it positive. If she asks you about your day, text her a positive thing about your day. When you are beginning to text, you are learning her texting style and social cues. Do not move or assume too much too fast.

The phone calls and text messages from guys are the ones that do not leave me feeling peaceful when the call ends.

You don’t have to type in complete sentences, but watch your spelling and grammar. No need to use grammarly, or maybe you should. During your initial stages, you are trying to leave a great impression. Do that by making sure your text messages sound intelligent.

Use emojis to help create context behind the sentence.

Do not rush into marriage mode too fast.

How to text when you have nothing to text about:

People, in general, love to talk about themselves. You can ask her about her job or siblings. Ask her about her accomplishments or proudest moments. Tell her about a movie you just watched and ask her if she has seen it. “If you ask about her favorite movie and if you haven’t seen it, make an effort to see it.” Make jokes. Being funny goes a long way.

When texting a girl, when do I ask her out?

Once you have built comradely with her, you also want her to be curious about who you are. Light conversations through text and real conversations in person, if this not a long distance relationship.

If you are the one that approached her, you should be the one asking her out. Do not take too long to ask her out, because it looks like you maybe weighing your options, especially if you received her number over a social media site.

How to not text a girl:

  1. Do not be hot and cold.
  2. Do not play games with the texting reply times. This little game has been exposed. Too many times people are hot in the beginning and the pull back. It leaves the other person to wonder why they are pulling back and their assumption is not always true.

You do not need to text all day, but when you do, make sure there is substance to it and that you text her back quickly.

I have seen so much bad advice about making her wait. If you make certain women wait, you will be waiting for the rest of times. Certain women do not play games, and honestly those are the ones that are more solid because their confidence is much higher that the ones that are doubtful.

Double texting is not a bad thing depending on the situation. You have to cater to the person and situation. Individualize your communication and stop with the cookie-cutter dating.

I have friends that are single mothers and sometimes their kids have their phones.

I have friends that work 12 hour days and the last thing they want is to be pressured at the end of the day.

3. Do no be overbearing. Remember, she doesn’t owe you anything. You approached her. Be patient, but also persistent without being needy. You want to be a part of her life, not her whole life.

How to text a girl recap:

  1. Get her number by applying the principles directed above.
  2. Create a bond by learning who she is and figuring out what you two have in common.
  3. Make her curious about you through texting.
  4. Do not be desperate.
  5. Be positive in text and leave the real conversation to when you meet up with her.
  6. Watch your grammar and spelling.
  7. Do not play games through text
  8. Make your intentions known.
  9. Do not wait too long to ask her out.

3 Budget-Friendly Strategies for Practicing Self-Care as an Introvert
Photo by Maik Kleinert from Pexels

As an introvert, a healthy self-care routine is crucial to your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Without self-care, you’re not giving yourself the time and space you need to recharge your mind and body — and you risk mental exhaustion and social burnout. According to IntrovertSpring, some signs of introvert burnout include depression, fatigue, and irritability.

Fortunately, there are some things you can do to care for your introverted mind and body —long before you begin to experience social burnout. What’s more, many of these self-care remedies can fit just about any budget — and they can be practiced from the comfort of your home.

To explore three budget-friendly self-care strategies for introverts, read on!

1. Exercise from Home

Whether you’re an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert, regular exercise is essential to your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Not only does exercise help to enhance your mood and alleviate symptoms of depression, but it could also treat or even prevent anxiety in some cases. When you’re an introvert who’d prefer to exercise at home or on your own, however, some workouts will benefit you more than others. To meet your exercise needs as an introvert, the pros at PopSugar Fitness recommend solo activities like running, swimming, cycling, or following along to a free online workout video or yoga class.

As you start a solo exercise routine, you may need to purchase some exercise gear and workout equipment that boosts your comfort and confidence. However, you can save on the purchase of your new athletic equipment and clothing if you shop online at stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods and QVC. For instance, you can find QVC promo codes and coupons before placing your online order — helping you to save big on everything from exercise equipment and fitness trackers to vitamins and nutritional supplements.

2. Make Time to Relax

If you’re an introverted personality type, alone time and relaxation are key to recharging your energy levels, clearing your mind, managing stress, relieving tension, and maintaining good physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A few budget-friendly relaxation techniques for
introverts include:

● Reading a book or magazine.
● Meditating with a free mindfulness app such as Insight Timer or Smiling Mind.
● Napping when you’re feeling drained.
● Soaking in a hot bath filled with soothing homemade salts.
● Walking in nature.
● Journaling, painting, drawing, or coloring.

While you could certainly pay for a professional massage, manicure, or facial when you’re feeling overwhelmed with life and in need of some downtime, there are plenty of other ways to relax for free or at a very low cost.

3. Disconnect from Technology

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all self-care strategy for introverted personality types, but these three ideas will help you to find an affordable self-care remedy that recharges you and enhances your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Whether you unwind with a good book, deactivate
the social media notifications on your smartphone, or enjoy a solo workout like walking, swimming, or practicing yoga at home, you’ll be recharging your mind, body, and soul — all without spending a fortune on self-care.

10 ways to keep your New Year Resolutions

10 ways to keep your New Year Resolutions

10 ways to keep your New Year Resolutions

The New Year is a great symbol of starting something new or pressing restart to something you are determined to re-do. It’s like the big “Monday” of the year. Most New Year Resolutions are actually great goals, i.e. “Get Healthier”, “Stop Smoking”, “Start a new hobby”…So why wouldn’t you want to do them?

According to U.S. News, approximately 80% of resolutions fail by the second week of February. Why? Because most resolutions are made unpractically and without an execution plan.

Here are 10 ways to keep your New Year Resolutions to Yourself

1. Keep it practical

Don’t set goals that are impossible to achieve. For instance, “I’m going to lose 15 lbs by February.” This is not a practical goal. Not because of the weight and time frame, but because of the fact that you are trying to lose something that you many have no idea how to track. How do you know if you are losing fat vs. gaining muscle vs. what is water weight?

What is a more practical goal: “I am going to workout three days a week for 1 hour and bring my heart rate up to my Target Heart Rate.” Now this is something that you can track.

Unless you are a trainer, have a trainer or nutritionist, know how to measure your BMI, there is no way for you to scientifically and accurately tell if you are losing Body Fat.

Be practical when writing your goals (practical and optimistic are NOT the same thing).

2. Set ways to get there

Don’t just write a goal and leave it there. Write how you are going to accomplish your New Year Resolution.

I am going to read 30 minutes a day. Well how are you going to do that? – “Instead of watching a TV show before bed, I am going to read” or “I am going to wake up 30 minutes earlier to read” or “I am going to read during lunch.”

3. Check-in with yourself

After you start committing to your goal, look for ways to enhance or improve it.

Maybe you noticed that reading before bed is not the best time, because you are too tired. Maybe you realized that you like this one workout class or gym better than another one. Look for ways to enhance. Do not stay stagnant.

4. Give Yourself Motivation

Motivate yourself! If you you go to the gym 3 times a week, treat yourself to new workout pants or start saving towards something you truly want.

As children, most of our parents would reward us for our accomplishments. For instance, if you received straight A’s you might have received a toy that you really wanted. This was built into our socialization process, making this cause and effect action still valid.

5. Make sure you are doing it for you

Make sure your New Year Resolution is for you and not for someone else. Now your goal can start from somewhere, like a your spouse asking you to do something, but you still have to find the core of why you want to do it…these are double edged resolutions.

Here are some examples of double edged resolutions:

-You are reading a book because you want to be apart of a book club; so, you can spend more time with your friends.

-You want to get healthier because you want to be around longer for your family.

-You want to save more money; so you can go on that trip.

6. Be open about what you are doing

We all need a support system. Be open about what you are doing and if someone is judgemental that is their issue.

Now you don’t have to do the above, but one thing I have learned, there will usually be a naysayer or two, but be honest. Explaining it to them, will help you keep yourself on track.

“The last office I worked in, people would judge me because I would bring in my own food prep. They took what I looked like and what I was eating and automatically made their own assumptions about me. One day someone had made a joke about my size and my food. I told the woman why I was eating healthy -because of my uncle’s battle with colon cancer, because of my grandmothers battles with breast and ovarian cancer…and she never bothered (picked on) me again.”- Ana

7. Be your own biggest cheerleader

If you are doing your Resolution..be proud of yourself! Give yourself a pat on the back. Not in a narcissistic way, but in a motivational way. Tell yourself how proud you are of YOU!

It all starts with you.

8. Motivate yourself

Investigate the why of your New Year Resolution. – I want to start dressing nicer. Why? Because I forgot how much I enjoy fashion.

I want to start working out 3 times a week. Why? To improve my health so I can run around with my kids and also teach them a healthy lifestyle.

I want to read 30 minutes a day. Why? I want to keep learning.

9. Don’t give up

There may be days where you would rather watch a movie and not read, eat saturated fats, or splurge on that jacket, but don’t give up! Go to that why and find your reason to keep going because….

10. Don’t lie to yourself

Never lie to yourself. Never break promises to yourself. How does it feel when you lie to your significant other or family member? Not to good right? Well lying to yourself doesn’t feel very good either, but some people are so used to doing so that they are hardened to this feeling. When you lie to yourself you are disrespecting yourself just as you would if you lied to someone else.

If you find that you have fallen off the track, it is never too late to press the restart button. You don’t have to wait for New Year or a Monday (or Sunday) to start a goal. You can start right now, in this very moment. *Set yourself up for success, by reassessing how to achieve your resolution.

December is usually filled with Holiday Parties.  As a rule of thumb, you should never go to a host’s home empty handed. Wine is a traditional gift to bring, but which one should you bring. Here’s a list of the best wine to bring to a Party and since the Holiday season is a season full of celebrating, we are sticking to the bubbles (not Champaign). All wine listed are under $20.00.

It is a nice Pink Wine (we won’t say Rosè because it does not advertise itself as one.) The bottle is beautiful and a conversation starter. It is not too sweet or too dry. Fresh and Fruity.

Top Christmas Gifts 2018

Top Christmas Gifts 2018

Top Christmas Gifts 2018

We asked Instagram what was their Top Request Gifts for 2018 and here are (some) of the responses. Please note that these are Christmas Gifts for Adults.

1. Money

We are not sure why giving money has such a bad rap. It is actually the most requested, because the receiver can do anything that they want with it, rather than having to purchase from a certain store. Let’s be real, most of the “gifts” that we receive for Christmas end up going into the corner or re-gifted.

“I do not care if it $5.00 or $10.00, sometimes money is the best gift and the most unwasteful.” -Ana Editor-In-Chief.

2. To be around Family

For those who do not live close to their family, this is the season to where the void is felt the most. Help them out by giving them an early Christmas present that will help them travel. Yes it is non-traditional, but worth it.

“Sometimes the way to be with your family is the best gift.” -Ana

3. To travel

For someone that is looking to give a gift to a travel bug…give them a gift card to an airline, that way they have to use it for traveling.

“Find out what airline they like to use or what airline goes to the place that is on their list.”- Ana

4. Good Health

For your health enthusiast friend or family member, give them a gift card to a health store or even gift them vitamins.

“Vitamins and health supplements are not cheap. I would love to find multi-vitamins in my stocking.” -Ana

5. More time with my Spouse

For those couples that are super busy, give your significant other a gift card or tickets that includes…you. For example a gift card to a restaurant, tickets to a concert or a couples massage.

“Tickets to a basketball game is something my husband loves.” -Ana

6. Tickets

Concert tickets to your friend’s or family member’s favorite band, ect. is a great gift. Just make sure you get two; so, they can bring a friend. Also, if you weren’t planning on going with them, then let them know with a note that they can bring whomever they want, that way they do not feel pressured.

7. A Designer Bag

Louis Vuitton or Vintage Chanel was the most requested Designer brands. There are some places like poshmark where you can find such items. If you can’t afford those items, go on Esty. They have amazing replicas (only if the receiver wouldn’t mind).

8. Drunk Elephant

If you do not know what Drunk Elephant is, it is a skincare line. An instagram cult favorite. Instead of putting up a photo of the products, we will have a gif of two drunk elephants.
