Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Florida on charges including driving under the influence (DUI) with property damage or personal injury, cocaine possession, and resisting arrest, according to police records.
The Maitland Police Department took Jordan into custody, and he was booked into the Orange County Jail. TMZ first reported the arrest.
Incident Details
According to police records obtained by WESH2 in Orlando, Jordan was stopped by officers after they observed vehicle headlights on a set of railroad tracks. Jordan reportedly requested assistance in removing his blue Lamborghini SUV from the tracks, stating that he had made a wrong turn.
Authorities noted that Jordan, 34, exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the smell of alcohol. He also appeared disoriented and “didn’t seem to know where he was,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Upon searching Jordan, officers found a “clear plastic baggie with a white powdery substance” in his pocket, which later tested positive for cocaine. Another individual was reportedly in the vehicle with Jordan at the time, but their identity has not been disclosed.
Legal History and Background
Jordan was released on bond Tuesday morning, according to WESH2. This is not his first encounter with law enforcement. In 2012, he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Omaha, Nebraska. An additional charge of obstructing a police officer was dropped as part of a plea deal.
Marcus Jordan is Michael Jordan’s second-oldest son and is known for his brief basketball career at the University of Central Florida. He is currently the CEO and founder of Trophy Room, a retail boutique specializing in footwear and apparel.
The case is still under investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected.
