šŸ„¢ Ingredients

For the Mushroom Wings:

āœ… 8 oz oyster mushrooms (or king oyster mushrooms, torn into ā€œwingā€ shapes)
āœ… 1 cup unsweetened plant milk
āœ… 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (creates a buttermilk effect!)
āœ… 1 cup all-purpose flour
āœ… Ā½ cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness!)
āœ… 1 tsp garlic powder
āœ… 1 tsp onion powder
āœ… 1 tsp smoked paprika
āœ… Ā½ tsp salt
āœ… Ā½ tsp black pepper
āœ… 1 tsp baking powder (helps make them extra crispy!)
āœ… Vegetable oil for frying

For the Sauce:

āœ… Ā½ cup hot sauce or BBQ sauce (Buffalo, BBQ, or Teriyakiā€”your choice!)
āœ… 2 tbsp vegan butter, melted

1ļøāƒ£ Prepare the Mushroom ā€œWingsā€

  • Clean and trim the oyster mushrooms, keeping them in larger, wing-sized pieces.

2ļøāƒ£ Make the Batter & Breading

  • In a bowl, whisk together plant milk and apple cider vinegar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and seasonings.

3ļøāƒ£ Coat the Mushrooms

  • Dip each mushroom first in the wet batter, then coat in the dry breading.
  • For extra crispy wings, repeat the process twice!

4ļøāƒ£ Fry Until Golden

  • Heat oil to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C) and fry mushrooms for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  • Drain on a paper towel.

5ļøāƒ£ Toss in Sauce & Serve

  • Toss wings in your favorite sauce and enjoy!
