MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (March 1, 2025) – The music world is mourning the loss of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Angie Stone, who tragically passed away in a car accident early Saturday morning. She was 63 years old.
Stone’s manager, Deborah Champagne, confirmed the heartbreaking news, stating that the singer was leaving a performance in Mobile, Alabama, and traveling to Baltimore for the CIAA basketball tournament when the crash occurred. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that the accident took place just before 7 a.m. on Interstate 65 in Montgomery County, approximately two miles south of Hope Hull.
According to ALEA, the crash involved a commercial vehicle and led to the partial blockage of I-65 for several hours. Authorities worked to clear the scene, reopening all lanes by 11 a.m. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
