WASHINGTON, D.C. – A man was shot and injured by U.S. Secret Service agents early Sunday morning after brandishing a firearm near the White House, officials said.
The incident began after local police in Indiana alerted the Secret Service on Saturday about a “suicidal individual” possibly traveling to Washington, D.C. (New York Post, 2025). Around midnight, agents located the suspect’s vehicle near 17th and F Streets NW, close to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which sits adjacent to the White House.
“As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel,” the Secret Service said in a statement (The Sun, 2025).
The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where his condition remains unknown. No Secret Service personnel were injured in the incident (New York Post, 2025).
At the time of the shooting, President Donald Trump was at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida (New York Post, 2025). The D.C. Metropolitan Police’s Internal Affairs Division is leading an investigation into the shooting (The Sun, 2025).
