This Bang Bang Cauliflower is the ultimate crispy, spicy, and creamy appetizer! Lightly battered and baked (or fried) to perfection, then coated in a sweet & spicy Bang Bang sauce, this dish is irresistibly crunchy and packed with flavor.
🔥 Bang Bang Cauliflower
🥢 Ingredients
For the Cauliflower:
✅ 1 head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
✅ 1 cup unsweetened plant milk
✅ 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (creates a buttermilk effect!)
✅ 1 cup all-purpose flour
✅ ½ cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness!)
✅ 1 tsp garlic powder
✅ 1 tsp onion powder
✅ ½ tsp smoked paprika
✅ ½ tsp salt
✅ ½ tsp black pepper
✅ 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for an extra crunchy texture!)
✅ Vegetable oil for frying or baking
For the Bang Bang Sauce:
✅ ½ cup vegan mayo
✅ 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
✅ 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste!)
✅ 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave
✅ 1 tsp lime juice
🔥 Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Cauliflower
- Wash and cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets.
2️⃣ Make the Batter & Coating
- Mix plant milk and apple cider vinegar, let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and seasonings.
- Set up a third bowl with panko breadcrumbs.
3️⃣ Coat the Cauliflower
- Dip each cauliflower floret first in the wet batter, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- For extra crispy texture, repeat the coating process twice!
4️⃣ Bake or Fry
- To Bake: Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway.
- To Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
5️⃣ Make the Bang Bang Sauce
- In a bowl, mix vegan mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, maple syrup, and lime juice.
6️⃣ Toss & Serve!
- Toss crispy cauliflower in the Bang Bang Sauce and serve immediately!
- Garnish with chopped green onions & sesame seeds.
