The Difference between CC creams, BB creams, and Tinted Moisturizer?

With so many foundation alternatives how do you decide which one to use? Which one is the best one for your skin? What’s the difference between BB creams, CC creams and Tinted Moisturizers?
Here’s the Guide:
Tinted Moisturizer- Moisturizer with a hint color
A Tinted Moisturizer contains moisturizer and a bit of foundation. It is great for people with dry skin that want a little bit of color to even their skin tone. If your only skin issue is dry skin, this is great for you.
BB Creams –a Beauty Balm thats main purpose is to even out skin tone
A BB Cream contains moisturizer, primer, some level of SPF and foundation. The color is light and the formula is also lightweight. Great to wear outdoors since it feels great on the skin.
CC Creams- Color Correction Cream
A CC Cream has everything that a BB cream has, but also includes a color correcting ingredient to brighten the skin or to get rid of redness. A common brightening ingredient is Vitamin C. CC creams also have a little more coverage than a BB creams and is a better option for people with uneven skin tones or acne. If you want minimal coverage this is great for you.
Tips:
CC Creams are the most popular foundation Alternatives.
Maybelline and IT Cosmetics have some of the highest rated CC creams.
Tinted moisturizers are the easiest to make. Just mix your favorite moisturizer and foundation together. Make sure that they have the same base (oil , not oil ect.; so they blend together).
Best Under Eye Concealers for Dark Circles
No more baggage....(under your eyes)
Editors

Dark Circles can be the result of many thing such as sleep deprivation, sinus problems, nutritional problems and can also come from your hereditary. However it happens, it is nice to be able to get rid of them. Here are the Best Under Eye Concealers for Dark Circles.
But first, here are tips for concealing Dark Circles:
- When you are using a heavy concealer you must hydrate under your eyes. This is a must! If you do not hydrate, just don’t do it. It will look worse than leaving your under eyes alone.
- If you have dark circles, you must have a great mirror with accurate lighting.
- You must have the right utensils (makeup brushes). A stippling brush is necessary otherwise you may just be rubbing it off and on.
This cream pallet also has a color corrector color in each one that combats dark under eye circles:
Light- has a color named Banana (pale yellow) – great for dark circles
Fair – has Shadow (caramel latte), and Soft Light (pale peach) that are great eye concealers for dark circles
Medium has Warm Coral (orange pink) for dark circles
Deep has Coral which is a reddish orange to combat dark circles
- This particular pallet is very heavy, therefore using an oil like vitamin E to blend into the product really helps with a smooth application.
- You also need a great setting powder since it is a heavy formula.
This is probably one of the easiest to use full converge concealers out there . Even great for contouring. It is on many “Best Under Eye Concealers for Dark Circles” lists. Buy a light and a skin tone color for those days you want to look natural vs full face.

One of the easiest formulas to use. Provides full coverage for under eye concealing. Contains a brightener. Easy to set and apply.
The formula is a cream and is build-able. One of the most affordable drug store concealers.

This is not technically a concealer, although you can use it that way and you will see a difference, but this one of the best Under-Eye Concealers for Dark Circles. It brightens the under eye and is best used under a concealer. If you have a concealer that doesn’t have a brightener built in, make sure you use this one. If you are going to take pictures, this is a must.

Why oil is a better cleanser than soap
Yes, Even For Your Face!

When I tell people to use oil to cleanse their skin I get the myriad of responses, most of them shocked and confused. But any skincare expert worth their weight will agree with me whole-heartedly that oil is a better cleanser than soap. Read below to find out why.
1. Oil dissolves oil, and repels water.
Dirt, debris, bad oils, and harmful bacteria almost always live in the sebum (good oil) that is naturally found in your pores and on top of your skin. When you use an oil to clean your skin, it naturally mixes with your natural oil and brings out all that grime to the surface, and then it is wiped away, without harming the natural oil layer on your skin.
2. Water repels oil.
At best, using water to cleanse the skin will do absolutely nothing. At worst, it will push the dirt and grime deeper into your skin, because of the natural repellent properties. Like two opposing ends of a magnet.
3. Soap strips the good stuff too!
Ah, the sudsy stuff we have come to know and love. While soap gets rid of all that grime, it also strips us of all the good. It can dissolve oil away completely and get rid of milder acne-causing bacteria. The problem is it also gets rid of the good oils, and the good flora and fauna on our skin. Our skin responds at the biological level by going into hyper-drive, replacing all that natural oil as fast as possible. This, in turn leads you too soapier cleanses and the terrible cycle continues.
4. Oil cleansing is great for acne prone skin!
Add a drop of tea-tree essential oil to your bottle of olive oil and you have the best oil-cleanse for acne! The tea-tree oil will kill and heal acne, and the olive oil will do the rest, and even prevent scaring.
How Use Oil To Cleanse Your Skin:
- Have a bottle of oil set aside specifically for cleansing. Olive oil is my favorite for all skin types, Jojoba is perfect for dry skin, and it doesn’t get better than Grapeseed oil for acne prone skin.
2. Rub a dime sized amount onto your face in gentle circular motions. Or for the whole body, use a bit more.
3. Take a soft damp cloth and gently wipe the oil away.
Pro Tip: If you are oil cleansing before a shower, don’t wipe the oil off, just shower as normal, skip the soap, and dry off as usual.
For people with acne prone skin, using this to heal the sensitive areas on the face please be aware that it will get worse a few days before it gets better.
Here is why:
The mantle layer on your skin is dry and tight from soap use, and thus the oil/grime has a harder time coming to the surface. There is buildup under this layer, despite the fact that your face feels soft and oily because, as mentioned above, your skin is working very hard to produce more oil once you remove it. As the days of oil cleansing go by, your skin is getting softer, and the oils trapped below are beginning to come to the surface. Even slower to get the message, is your skin cells. They will only begin to slow down oil production after a few days of getting the feedback that there is plenty of oil on your skin, and they can calm down.
Please stick with it at least 30 days. I have seen amazing results with this method. Afterwards, e-mail me to let me know if you agree oil is a better cleanser than soap.

How to get rid of Body Acne
Acne on your shoulders, back, arms, chest and even your butt. It can be embarrassing and exhausting, but here's how to get rid of body acne and have beautiful clear skin.

10 ways to get rid of body acne that is easy and inexpensive.
1. Assess your skin
Know the type of skin that you have. Is it sensitive? Is it dry? Is it oily? This will make a big difference in the products that you should use.
Knowing how long you have had body acne is also important. Have you always had it it? Did it start after a hormonal change? Did it start when you started working out. Did it start when you started a certain diet?
2. Pick a Soap
If you have sensitive skin, use a body soap specifically for sensitive skin. Dove makes a very inexpensive bar soap. If you have normal skin try Neutrogena Body Soap.
It doesn’t have to be a bar soap, but what you want to look for is Salicylic Acid
3. Use an Astringent with Salicylic Acid
Use a cotton ball and apply to the area. This will serve as a topical treatment. There are many deep pore cleansing products. So totally Clean Deep Pore Cleaner is affordable and effective.
You can also use a spot treatment.
4. Moisturize
Do not neglect moisturizing, especially after cleaning. Never leave that area dry. Use a good moisturizer. The same night cream you use on your face can be the same night cream you can use on your body to provide great moisture. Don’t neglect your body skin just because it isn’t always visable.
6. Start Switching to Cotton
Stay away from anything that is not breathable and traps moisture.
If you notice that most of your clothing is not cotton, begin making the switch.
If you noticed that working out and acne came hand in hand, opt for only cotton shirts and pants.
Also, make sure you clean the area right after your workout.
7. Wash your Clothing more often
For workout clothing, only wear the item only once. Bacteria likes to fester in wet areas. If you can’t afford to wear something new each time, sprinkle baking soda on the inside of the garment. This will help to get some of the moisture that may be causing the acne.
8. Change your Detergent
Change your detergent to something without scents and that is for sensitive skin. Your body acne may be caused by or even aggravated by the perfume in the detergent or softener. Use a clear formula or a natural brand.
9. Change your Diet
If you are doing the above and still have acne, then it could be something that you are eating. Wheat, cheese, saturated fats are known food items that cause acne. Read 5 Foods that May be Causing your Acne to learn more.
10. Use a Dark Spot Corrector
The scars left behind can be an unfortunate reminder of your fight with body acne. You can use a topical dark spot corrector, laser scar removal or a natural remedy to get rid of body scaring.

5 Foods that May be Causing your Acne

Whether you are an adult or teenager acne is absolutely awful. Acne is commonly blamed upon hormones, but what you are digesting (eating) may be the biggest culprit, especially in adult acne. This article will review 5 foods that may be causing your acne.
- Refined Carbohydrates aka Processed Carbohydrates

Ever heard of empty calorie foods? Well this is the same type of food and these foods may be causing your acne.
How? Refined carbohydrates spikes glucose levels —> Causes insulin levels to spike—> Creating a sebum buildup in your pores —> Leading to more clogged pores.
Here are some example of food that contains refined carbohydrates:
- Bread, crackers, anything with white flour (flour is processed from wheat germ to become white flour)
- Pasta or other noodles (rice noodles/low mien) made with white flour
- White rice
- Sweeteners like cane sugar, maple syrup, honey or agave (soda and other sweet beverages and snacks contain this)
Food from the above categories may be causing your acne by causing overactive glands.
2. Lactose

Some doctors agree that these food items may cause acne while some do not see the correlation. Let’s put it like this, cows have hormones and when you drink dairy items such as milk, you are drinking their hormones. The hormones can affect your own hormones or testosterone and can cause acne inflammation. Also protein powder, which is made from lactose, has been directly linked to acne…which leads to the next point.
3. Whey Protein Powder

Between the hormones and amino acids, whey powder can cause acne. Amino acids are found in whey protein and are protein building blocks. They are a great supplement for body builders to take, because it allows them to build more protein for muscle gain, but it might be causing your acne.
If you noticed an influx of acne after you started taking whey protein powder, stop taking it to see if this food is causing your acne.
- Omega-6

These fats are found mostly in corn oil and vegetable oils. These are the common food items that contain Omega-6 :
- Processed food
- Fried food
- Potato or corn chip
- Cured meat
- Nuts with oil and salt
These foods may me causing your acne by clogging your pores.
- Food allergies
If you have food allergies like Gluten, these food items could be the cause of your acne inflammation. Gluten circumferences more than white flour and can be find in many food items. Luckily, for people with gluten sensitivity or have celiac disease there are so many gluten free options in today’s world versus a couple of years ago.
How to find out if food is causing your acne:
If you have acne, the best thing to do is to start eliminating items from your diet.
Refined carbohydrates should hardly be consumed anyhow, since there is no nutritional value to those items. Acne should be the least of your worries if you are consuming those items.
Replace lactose with alternative milk and try to cut some of the cheese to nearly all of the cheese out to see if this is the culprit.
If you are consuming whey protein powder as a supplement, try to eat more food items that have protein and eliminate the whey. There are plenty of athletes that are clean eaters that are building muscles without taking protein powder.
Replace Omega-6 food items with Omega- 3 food items because once again, this food category does not have any nutritional value and can cause more harm to your body than acne.

Is Your Skin Care Right for Your Skin
by Bonnie Min, RN
@glowonandprosper

Do you ever feel like you could be doing something differently or feel frustrated by your skin care routine and not seeing results? Read below to see if your skin care right for your skin.
Skin care isn’t an exact science….OR IS IT??
I used to think it was as simple as washing my face and going out the door…but that’s before I spent 7 years in the Burn Unit as an ICU Registered Nurse and learned real quick just how important sunscreen is. Then I started a business in skin care and REALLY had my eyes opened.
Here’s the thing. The majority of us aren’t dermatologists, aesthetic nurses or physician assistants, cosmetic chemists or estheticians. We see a problem on our skin and we’re off to the nearest drugstore / department store / Japanese / Korean skin care store / Sephora and come home loaded down with a bunch of products along with a lighter wallet.
But what if the products you bought aren’t designed to work TOGETHER? You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about. I’ll explain. Let’s say you really want to get rid of the wrinkles starting to form on your forehead but you also REALLY want to get rid of the acne that’s there. Most people will go on Instagram, read all about the power of retinol and conclude that they need the retinol for the wrinkles while using the same, trusty benzoyl peroxide cream they used all throughout their teen years for the acne. BOOM! Problem solved!!
Right?
WRONG!!
Did you know that retinol and benzoyl peroxide will actually deactivate each other? And that’s just one example! “Okay, Bonnie”, you think to yourself. “I’ll just swap out the benzoyl peroxide with SALICYLIC ACID! HAH!!!”
Not so fast! Using salicylic acid and retinol will only cause redness and dryness. So unless you’re really digging the peeling, sunburned look, I’d advise against it. Another no-no combo I see a lot on social media is retinol plus AHAs. No, not AHA as in the band that came out with the song “Take On Me”. I’m talking about Alpha Hydroxy Acids aka AHAs. Retinol + AHAs can also lead to redness, irritation and dry skin.
The Vitamin C serum following is really picking up steam because it’s an antioxidant. The problem is that it doesn’t play nice with AHAs, depending on the formulation. Not all antioxidants are created equal so not all of them are able to withstand destabilization.
All this starting to make more wrinkles appear because now you don’t know if your products are working with you or against you? Before you start despairing, I want to ask you something.
What if skin care didn’t have to be so confusing?
What if you could be using clinical skin care that’s created by dermatologists and is recommended JUST FOR YOU and your specific skin care needs?
What if it also didn’t have to cost an arm and a leg?
